A Path Toward Gender Equality
Equality is a daily commitment, not a finish line. This is the awareness that resounds throughout the story of Melissa Dal Maso, Group Engagement, Training & Development Specialist at Morato Group. She has guided the organization through a profound journey based on listening to people, providing new reporting tools and cultivating a cultural change that gains momentum day by day.
In 2024, Morato Group celebrated an important accomplishment when five of its companies received UNI/PdR 125:2022 gender equality certification. All the Group’s Italian sites were certified in 2025, but Melissa doesn’t see this as the journey’s end. It’s just the beginning of a larger transformation. “Certification is only real when it becomes part of the way we work, speak and relate to one another every day. The real goal is a new mindset. Fortunately, at Morato Group, this process found fertile ground, and today we can say that diversity has truly become a growth driver and a shared value that helps us make the most of everyone’s talent.”
The outcome that impressed Melissa the most had nothing to do with numbers or indicators. It was the atmosphere at the company, and could be found in more attentive language and more relaxed relationships, in an environment where people feel comfortable expressing themselves. Signs like these confirm how important it is to continue talking about equality and taking small steps in the same direction.
This process also left a mark on Melissa. “I learned that equality is not just a procedure. It’s an act of listening and care. And, above all, I learned that change begins with us,” she said. “Through the choices we make and the little things we do every day, each of us can make the workplace a more equal place.” The biggest challenge is holding on to what we have built. Remaining a community, a group, is an act of courage and the most effective way to be both good colleagues and good citizens of the world.”
