Our Pink October
October is pink. A colour that for several years now has represented internationally the fight against female cancers and support for scientific research.
Every year in Italy there are 55,900 new breast cancer diagnoses, but prevention can make a difference.
We also wanted to do our part by involving our people in a series of awareness-raising activities:
For the Italian offices, we delivered an informative webinar in which an expert gynaecologist spoke about early diagnosis, screening by age group, preventive techniques and nutrition.
In Gauchy, France, in the factory where our buns come to life, a fundraiser for research was launched: 10% of the proceeds from the purchase of pink caps for production staff was donated to the Cancer League association, and the special pink pastries that can be tasted during these weeks will support the studies of the Oscar Lambret Oncology Centre in Lille. Throughout October, our people will also wear the pink ribbon, symbol of the fight against breast cancer: therosettes purchased will support theRose Diamond Association, which helps and assists women with cancer.
Angélique Daumain, HR Manager of Morato France, tells us:
“The pink caps are just a symbol, a reminder not to forget certain issues, such as prevention and early diagnosis, which can really make a difference. In collaboration with occupational physicians, we have organised workshops open to the corporate population, because it is important to talk about female cancers and prevention, even among colleagues, in a positive word-of-mouth that can save lives”.
